Using a flat brush, apply a thin coat of Odicoat Odif to the 2 fabric squares. Leave to dry for about 20 minutes.
Repeat the same operation twice.
Protect the soleplate fabric from the iron by covering it with a sheet of greaseproof paper and fix the Odicoat Odif at medium temperature.
Spray the final 909 glue on the reverse side of one of the coated fabric squares and stick it on the fleece.
Using the rotary cutter, cut the 2 fabric squares in half on the cutting board. For each pocket, use 1 half square of each fabric.
Over the width of the rectangles, overlap the coated fabric without fleece (back side up), with the zipper centred (front side up) and end with the fabric with fleece (fleece up). Pin with sewing clamps to avoid puncturing the coated fabric.
Install the zipper foot on the machine and sew on all thicknesses.
Turn right side out and topstitch along the zipper.
Turn right side out and topstitch along the zipper.
Open the zipper.
Turn right side out and topstitch along the zipper on the 2nd side (see step "Topstitching the zipper right side"). Turn the zipper inside out again.
Attach sewing clamps to the end of the resulting tube. Change the presser foot of the machine and then sew to close the end of the tube with a few stitches back at the zipper. Reinforce the seam at the zigzag stitch.
Cut off the excess of the zipper as shown in the picture and then open the zipper again.
Cut a 5 cm wide strip in the diagonal of the 10 x 10 cm square of fabric and fold it in 3 in the width as shown in the photo. Fold in 2 lengthwise.
Pinch the other end of the berlingot vertically as shown in the photo and sew as described in step 11, taking the 2 ends of the folded strip into the seam.
Cut off excess zipper and protruding threads.
Cut the 4 corners as shown in the photo.
Turn the pouch over on its right side, pushing the corners back as shown in the photo. Attach the tassel to the zipper.
Repeat steps 4 to 17 for the 2nd pocket, reversing the fabric arrangement in step 5.
Make yourself a kit berlingot for a return full of pep!
To make a berlingot kit, you will need to cut 1 rectangle of 25 x 40 cm in 2 assorted or contrasting fabrics and choose a zip of 25 cm minimum.
You can also, in a smaller size, make a cute purse to attach to the inside of your bag or to your keys!
